Criminal Record Check levels

 

There are 3 levels of criminal record checks available.

 

Basic Disclosure

Standard Disclosure 

Enhanced Disclosure

 

What is a Basic Disclosure?

A Basic Disclosure contains details of convictions considered to be unspent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (ROA) or shows that there are no such convictions.

 

Who can apply for a Basic Disclosure?

Anyone can apply for a Basic Disclosure.

 

What is a Standard Disclosure check and who can apply for it?

A Standard Disclosure contains details of any convictions considered to be spent/unspent.  The roles which you might need a Standard Disclosure check will involve positions involved in the Legal Profession, Financial Services, Security Industry. Types of positions can be Traffic Wardens, Veterinary surgeons, Accountants, Financial Advisor etc.

   

What is an Enhanced Disclosure check and who can apply for it?

A Enhanced Disclosure check contains details of any convictions considered to be spent/unspent. Enhanced Disclosure checks are for positions which involve regular contact with children or vulnerable adults.

Enhanced Disclosure checks are for positions which involve working in a regulated activity and come into contact with either children or vulnerable adults. Types of positions can be roles involved in Schools, Childcare premises, Children’s Hospitals, Adult Care homes.
